In 2010, London Wasps staged its first ever showpiece fixture the St George’s Day Game played in front of over 60,000 fans at Twickenham Stadium. The first major sporting event to celebrate England’s Patron Saint and National Day, the inaugural St George’s Day Game took on the calibre of a Final, with Wasps and Bath Rugby two proud English teams established nearly 150 years ago with a shared history at Twickenham meeting in the penultimate round of the Premiership season with a place in the semi-finals on the line.
The Background
This year, Wasps and Bath will once again take centre stage at Rugby HQ on St George’s Day Saturday 23 April in Round 21 of the Aviva Premiership Rugby season and Gasp Creative enlisted the help of the Blayney Partnership to work in partnership to handle and produce all creative marketing collateral.
As well as providing a thrilling spectacle, the games objective is also to raise more than £100,000 for four nominated charities BLESMA (British Limbless Ex-Service Men’s Association), Combat Stress, The Parachute Regiment Charity and the Special Boat Service Association (SBSA).
Our creative incorporates 3 key Wasp players bursting through a blood stained cross which represents the brutal fixture plus a reminder of the tremendous work our service men and women have endured during combat.
Partnering for the development of the Event
